The team on high ground above the Adventure School
6 Day Summer Camp
Summer camp arrive at Ardmore
The second of two six day summer camps settle in
Saturday August 10th 2013
A slightly smaller team than last week for the second six day summer camp arrived at the School just after 2.30pm this afternoon. Tea and home baking with a little time to settle in before we checked kit for the mountain day, learned to pitch the tents and tried out the swimming pool for the first time! A reasonable amount of squawks echoed around the sea loch but with a lowish tide the swim out to the wooden raft wasn't too far!
After dinner we set off up to a high point above the Adventure School, where a large glacial boulder sits balanced on the hill top. It give a great view in all directions, out across the Atlantic towards the Hebrides and Iceland to the west and across to the mountains of Foinaven, Arkle and Ben Stack to the east. Dark imposing skies over the mountains but rays of warm light from far out across the sea.
All the team are now here, including our late arrival from Norway, and have settled in well. Rock climbing and survival skills tomorrow and then an after dinner departure to a wild camp at the foot of the mountain (Arkle) ready for a summit attempt on Monday.
