Pilgrim’s team arrive at Ardmore

Ready for the walk in along the shore to the Adventure School

Pilgrim’s team arrive at Ardmore

Saturday August 29th 2015

We have a small independent team of boys here this week, all pupils of Pilgrim’s School near Winchester, who have come for an adventure at Ardmore before starting the new school year.

The team arrived at the airport in Inverness just after 10.30am this morning and were at the Adventure School in time for a late lunch. After lunch we did a bit of kit faff, collecting in sleeping bags and roll mats and sorting out any kit hire before heading up to a high point above the Adventure School.

It was pretty wild with a strong southwesterly wind and blue skies. The boys could explore and take in the 360-degree view of all the places that they will explore with us this week.

There was just time for a swim before supper, putting on wetsuits and swimming out to the wooden raft in front of the Adventure School. The boys took it in their stride, leaping and jumping off the raft after the initial shock of the 8 degree water had subsided! Plenty more chances to swim.

Windy again tomorrow so we will be looking at the fire and food elements of survival skills before heading out onto the remote Ardbeg peninsula for ‘Search to Survive’, a wilderness orienteering course in this wild and rugged landscape.

We’ll be wild camping tomorrow night before heading up into the mountains on Monday so the next news page update and Facebook photos won’t be until late on Monday.

In the meantime the boys are all well, on great form and doing a good job at matching the sound levels from last weeks team of 42 from Twyford!!
