The early arrivals swim team on the shore of Loch A Chadh-Fi this afternoon
6 Day Summer Camp
Six day summer camp is underway!
Swims and intro walk
Saturday August 5th 2017
We have thirty-six young people with us this week on the six-day summer camp, from all over the UK and Europe.
An advanced team of seven, who came into Inverness on early flights, arrived at the Adventure School at about two o’clock, in time for some lunch. After lunch and having had a tour of the buildings and a chance to unpack, we took to the sea loch for a swim. There is a wooden raft sitting out on the loch, perfect for jumping from.
The rest of the course arrived just after five o’clock, to warm sunshine and a good breeze. We then split into the four teams that we will work in across the course of the week, unpacked and settled in before supper of macaroni cheese, salads and a large slice of homemade chocolate cake.
This evening the teams have walked up to a high point above the Adventure School, where they can get a 360 degree view of all the places that we will explore together over the week. A first glimpse of the mountains of Arkle and Ben Stack, that we head to on Monday, and of course survival island!
Sea kayaking for some tomorrow, rock climbing for others, and all teams will look at the fire and food skills that they will need for the island on Wednesday evening.
We will post a couple of news page reports here across the week.
