Some of the Blue Moons team on the summit of Ben Stack today
6 Day Summer Camp
Teams return from successful mountain days
Monday August 7th 2017
All four teams are back at the Adventure School this evening after a challenging but successful day in the mountains. The three older teams climbed Arkle, which has two summits linked by a crescent shaped ridge that provides some added excitement before reaching the second summit. The youngest team was on nearby Ben Stack, the picture postcard mountain that looks out over Loch Laxford.
Yesterday we had the Red teams rock climbing and abseiling and learning the fire and food elements of the survival skills that they will need when it comes to the island on Wednesday night, and the Blues went sea kayaking.
The weather is settled at the moment and was perfect today for climbing a mountain, with high level cloud keeping us cool and giving some short bursts of sunshine. Tomorrow looks good too. The Reds will get their turn to go sea kayaking while the Blues rock climb and abseil, and we’ll pull up lobster creels to look at the catch, learn to build shelters from old yacht sails and army bivvy tarps, and take the boats across to Ardmore to see the 1966 Atlantic rowing boat, and Rebecca’s Cape Horn sea kayak.
