Sea kayaking on Loch A Chadh-Fi this afternoon
York House School
York House team arrive in the Highlands
Saturday September 9th 2017
The Year 8’s arrived at the road end just after midday today after a good overnight journey on the sleeper train. Bags transferred into the 4x4 and a short walk along the shore brought them to the Adventure School and we sat down together for a bowl of soup and homemade bread.
With a calm sea loch we decided to jump straight into the sea kayaks in the afternoon, heading out in the two teams (Reds and Blues) to explore the coves and bays, learn some new skills, fling some seaweed and look at the creatures and seaweeds that occupy the shoreline.
The forecast for the week looks typically autumnal with a few belts of strong wind coming through on Monday and Tuesday and with that in mind we packed up before supper ready to camp at Lone, the remote stone stables at the foot of Arkle. After supper we set off and established camp in the last half hour of light. With a fire roaring in the field kitchen end of Lone we sat down together before bed to set the scene for the week.
The team are all well and in good spirits. Mountain day on Arkle tomorrow. More news to follow in the next few days.
