Wild weather as week draws to a close
Thursday June 14th 2018
Wild weather here today kept us at low levels and off the water so the teams walked around the sea loch to Ardmore to see John Ridgway’s 1966 Atlantic rowing boat. Ardmore is right on the waters edge on the far side of the sea loch from the Adventure School. It is a sheltered spot closed to the open ocean but the sea loch was whipped up by the wind with white caps and spray. Rowing a 19 foot wooden boat on Loch A Chadh-Fi today would be hard enough, let alone across the Atlantic.
The pupils had plenty of questions. I think they expected something bigger… more mod cons… maybe a cabin or some form of protection from the elements. It puts some challenges into perspective and hopefully has inspired a few.
The team have been a pleasure to have here this week and we wish them well for their final weeks at Heath Mount and all the best for their next challenge which no doubt will come as they start new schools in early September.
