Rock climbing, abseiling and survival skills

Sunday June 24th 2018

The team were up at 7am this morning for a swim. Thinking about it for too long might make you favour a walk or a run before breakfast but once committed, wet suited up and in, its surely the best way to start the day. As it was the first morning at the Adventure School, and without time to swim yesterday, the whole team were in the sea loch and swimming to the raft.

After breakfast the Westbourne teams were rock climbing and abseiling on the ancient rocky outcrop above the Adventure School and learning the fire and food elements of the survival skills that will be need for the island on Wednesday. Winkles and limpets are the standard foraging fayre at this time of year. The pupils also learned to make bread dough cooked in thin strips over sticks and scoured the hillside for wood sorel.

The team are all on good form and will be sea kayaking tomorrow whilst the team from Frome are on the mountain.
