Teams return from summit success on Arkle

Sea kayaking, mackerel fishing and survival skills

Monday August 20th 2018

The team are back at the Adventure School tonight after a successful day in the mountains. We thought the kids were up for an added challenge so our target was Arkle rather than Ben Stack. With two summits to climb and a narrow crescent shaped ridge linking the two, there is about 900m of height gain to be made, and some teamwork required on the ridge!

Yesterday was a beautiful blue sky day and the kids spent half the day sea kayaking on a glassy calm Loch A Chadh-Fi, and learning the fire and food skills necessary to be independent on Survival Island. In the evening we took the Red team out in the workboats to go sea fishing. Slow to start but soon we had our first catch and finished the evening with two good sized mackerel, some small pollack and some beautiful views along Laxford to the mountains on one side and the Atlantic on the other.

The team are all well and on good form, plenty of chat around the dinner table!
