Westbourne team arrive at the Adventure School

Westbourne team arrive at the Adventure School

Sunday June 16th 2019

The Westbourne team arrived with us yesterday afternoon at about five o’clock. We took bags from the coach and put them into the 4x4 and trailer and the pupils meet their instructors and walked in together over the hills and along the shoreline.

After finding rooms and unpacking quickly the team were straight out for a swim in the sea loch. We have a small pontoon that floats in the middle of the loch which is perfect for jumping from, and we swam out in small pods, jumping, diving and bombing off the pontoon.

Back in for hot showers before supper. Homemade tomato soup followed by Spanish omelette with new potatoes and salad for supper.

After supper the teams walked to a high point above the Adventure School where they could get a 360 degree view of all the places that we will explore together over the week. Great views to the mountains and across the Atlantic, and a first glimpse of survival island.

Today the teams will be up at 7am for a run or swim before breakfast. The Blues plan to sea kayak in the morning with the Reds looking at shelter building, with both teams swapping after lunch. It is our intention this afternoon to head out to a wild base camp at the foot of Arkle (787m) which will be our mountain ascent on Monday.

The pupils are all well and full of enthusiasm!
