Gresham’s Prep arrive at the Adventure School
Time to walk to a high viewpoint and swim in the sea loch before supper
Saturday June 29th 2019
The team arrived at the road end just after 3.30pm this afternoon, with blue skies and warm sunshine to greet them. Together we packed the hold bags into our trailer and 4x4 and the pupils set off on foot with their instructors for the 20 minute walk across the hillside and along the shore to the Adventure School.
Bags were dropped off in rooms, walking boots donned and water bottles filled up and then we were straight out again. There is a high point that sits above the Adventure School which gives far reaching 360 degree views of the landscape around us, views to the mountains east of the Adventure School, and to the crofting settlement of Ardmore to the west and beyond to the Atlantic. Our two teams for the week, the Reds and the Blues, made it up there pretty quickly and we could point out survival island and all the other places we plan to explore over the coming week.
We planned for a 7pm supper to give us enough time to go for a swim so walking boots were swapped for wetsuits and we all swam out into Loch A Chadh Fi together. Salmon dives, jumps and bombs from the pontoon that floats in the loch and back in for hot showers before supper.
Spanish omelette with new potatoes and different salads this evening for supper, followed by homemade chocolate cake.
The team are on great form this evening, full of enthusiasm for the week to come. We are expecting the good weather to break overnight and are looking at a couple of really windy days coming up. We may well adjust some of our plans to work around this but there is no lack of enthusiasm from the team and we had a strong show of hands this evening for the swim before breakfast tomorrow.
