The raft race earlier today
Search to survive and raft build and race
Thursday July 11th 2019
We woke for the usual run or swim again this morning before breakfast, with a team of twelve taking to the water with the rest of the group jogging along the track.
After breakfast the Red Deer took on the Blue Moons at the raft build and race. The teams constructed rafts from old mussel farm barrels, wooden spars and ropes and raced them on the sea loch. Clouds cleared and we had some lovely warm sunshine.
Meanwhile the Red Snappers and Blue Whales were out on the ‘search to survive’ course, orienteering to find wooden posts around a remote and rugged peninsula in little squads of three or four. With letters stamped on each post the teams can put together a code to unlock and old wooden ammo crate containing their teams striking flint for survival island.
After lunch the teams swapped around and the skies became dark and moody.
With thunder storms forecasted close to us we chose not to put the teams onto survival island tonight as planned. Instead the year group will head to the island tomorrow afternoon, with a more settle weather forecast.
Great spirits as we had an evening concert and slides of photos from the week so far.
More news tomorrow evening.
