6 Day Summer Camp

Rock climbing, survival skills and sea fishing

Wednesday August 7th 2019

Posted at 0730 Wednesday morning

The course are off out for their morning run and swim at the moment and shortly will sit down together for breakfast.

Our plan today is for the Blues (the younger team) to rock climb and abseil this morning and then head out on the orienteering course this afternoon. The orienteering (which we call ‘search to survive’) is an opportunity to work together in this rugged environment without the direct input of an instructor. Good decision making practice before heading to the island this evening.

The Red team will go orienteering this morning and then this afternoon they will build rafts on the shore, and race them together on the sea loch.

Yesterday was a mix of rock climbing, raft racing and survival skills and started dry and sunny before rain set in later in the day.

Over the last two evenings we have taken boats out sea fishing and have caught some mackerel to supplement survival island foraging.

The teams will head out to the island late this afternoon. All seem excited at the prospect.
