Todd Team set off on survival skills and sea kayaking
Sunday August 25th 2019
We have a small team of friends with us this week, for some big adventures together, before they head back to school for the start of Year 8.
The team arrived just after 2.30pm yesterday, loaded bags into the pickup truck and walked with Mark along the footpath and down to the Adventure School. A quick look around and then we were out for a swim in the sea loch. Lots of jumps and dives off the raft before heading back in for showers, tea and homemade cookies.
Before supper we went through the contents of the girls and boys day packs. Small individual rucksacks that will allow them to be self reliant in the hills and on all the adventures of the week.
We had Spanish omelette and different salads for supper, followed by vanilla cake. Katie then took the team on a walk to a high point above the Adventure School, to get a 360 degree view of all the places that we will explore together over the week.
Today started early with the team opting to swim rather than run. The beautiful calm was broken at 7am as the team splashed into the sea and swam to the raft.
Mark has just dropped the boys and girls off on the Ardbeg peninsula by boat, with Tim (their instructor), to look at the fire and food elements of the survival skills that will be needed on the island. They’ll walk back to the Adventure School later on today to go sea kayaking and this evening we’ll head out to the old stone stables at Lone which will be our mountain base camp tonight, before climbing Arkle tomorrow.
We will try to add some more photos to an album on our Facebook page this evening.
The team are all well and in great spirits.
